Baccarat Third-Card Rule Explorer

Pick the two-card totals and see exactly who draws a third card and why. Then deal a full shoe and watch road patterns fail to predict anything.

Banker 8 or 9, or Player 8 or 9, is a natural: no one draws. Player draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7.

Deal a shoe

Eight decks, real drawing rules, cut card 14 from the end. Seed –.

Who draws?

Player 4, Banker 5, Player's third card 6: Player draws, and Banker draws because a 5 draws on a third card of 4 to 7.

How it works

  1. Choose the Player and Banker two-card totals (tens and picture cards count 0).
  2. If the Player draws, choose the Player's third card: on Banker 3 to 6 that card decides whether the Banker draws.
  3. The table highlights the exact cell of the Banker tableau that applies.
  4. Deal a shoe to see a real Big Road, then compare six pattern systems with what the maths says they return.

What the maths says

The third-card rules are fixed: nobody decides anything in Punto Banco. Enumerating every possible deal from an eight-deck shoe gives Banker winning 45.86% of coups, Player 44.62% and a tie 9.52%. The Banker rule lets the Banker react to the Player's third card, which is why it wins more often.

That edge is why casinos take 5% commission on Banker wins. After commission the house edge is 1.06% on Banker, 1.24% on Player and 14.36% on a Tie paying 8:1.

Road maps record what happened; they do not change what happens next. Each coup is dealt from a shuffled shoe, so a streak tells you nothing about the next result. The simulator applies six popular pattern systems to the same shoes: their returns land on the fixed Banker or Player edge, give or take noise.
