The 10 Most Important Rules to Memorize First

• Always split Aces — two separate hands starting with Ace is powerful.
• Always split 8s — a 16 is the worst hand in blackjack; two 8s give you two better starting points.
• Never split 10s — a 20 is too strong to break up.
• Never split 5s — double down on 10 instead.
• Always double down on 11 when the dealer shows 2–10.
• Always double on 10 when the dealer shows 2–9.
• Stand on hard 17 or higher — always.
